The HRG-Compensation team is seeking a graduate student as a part-time, year-round compensation intern to assist in the analysis, design, and administration of compensation programs. The intern will have the opportunity to work in areas related to base pay, incentive pay, performance management programs, analysis of compensation surveys, requests for pay adjustments to ensure compliance with current compensation policy and will contribute to the team’s work in resolving daily operational issues.
Working closely with the Vice President of Compensation, Policy and Analysis and her Compensation team, this intern will apply learnings and skills to assist in contributing to the overall goals of the department. The Compensation Intern will pperform basic assignments that customarily and regularly require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Will receive general instructions on non-routine or new assignments and will learn to use professional concepts and company policies and practices to independently solve problems and handle tasks and/or issues guided by application of standards, procedures, or precedent. Contact is typically coordinative and informative in nature and involves exchanging and interpreting information.
Duties will include and are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a resource to management on a variety of projects and compensation-related issues, including program design and base pay administration;
- Participate in compensation surveys to determine changes in the labor market, economic indicators, and compensation trends;
- Update survey data for current benchmark positions;
- Provide support for special projects, reports, and studies covering a range of compensation initiatives. Analyze and interpret results and present findings in a concise format;
- Assist the team with duties that contribute to the day-to-day operations, as assigned.
Interns must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered graduate students. AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
