The Graphic Designer, as part of Girl Up’s communications team, is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining Girl Up’s brand identity across print and digital media. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Digital Producer and Campaign Manager to design all assets and update all website design related to Girl Up’s global expansion into multiple languages.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works with Digital Producer to design and produce all print and digital assets for Girl Up.
  • Designing and producing all digital assets for GirlUp.org, social media platforms, and email newsletters and online forms.
  • Designing and producing collateral materials, merchandise as needed.
  • Designing materials for special events such as invite, posters, pop-up banner, step and repeats, and other creative materials that require graphic design.
  • Producing graphics for videos for social and digital properties.
  • Manages Girl Up’s brand identity while brand expands globally and translates print and digital properties into five languages.
  • Manages organization of Girl Up’s photo and video assets.
  • Creates design processes and standards for Girl Up.
  • Creating templates for print and digital assets across languages.
  • Works closely with developers to assist on site design assets that pertain to the translation of GirlUp.org and Girl Up’s community into five langauges.
  • Works closely with Digital Producer to refresh and, if necessary, redesign Girl Up’s brand assets across platforms.
  • Communicates regularly with all Girl Up team members to ensure that all campaign design needs are being met in a timely and strategic manner.
  • Keeps up-to-date on online communications and web industry design standards and trends.
  • Other projects and duties as may be assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 1-2 years print and digital professional design background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications Design, or related field.
  • Proficient in Adobe creative suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier, After Effects
  • Knowledge and prior use of HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to work in Wordpress and update Wordpress stylesheets preferred.
  • Broad understanding of digital design with examples of current, successful designs.
  • Strong understanding of branding and style guidelines.
  • Sense of humor, creative energy and a great team player.
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong skills working in teams and across many types of organizations — team-oriented; problem solver; relationship-builder; and strong inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, often rapidly-changing environment.
  • Multi-cultural experience, general knowledge of global issues and the United Nations system, and an understanding of the UN Foundation mission, programs, strategy and goals.
  • Proficiency in use of video editing software preferable (e.g. Final Cut Pro).
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
