The Financial Security & Consumer Affairs team within State Advocacy and Strategy Integration (SASI) Government Affairs seeks an undergraduate Government Affairs Intern  to assist with research, writing and tasks in support of the work of the members of the SASI Financial Security team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Primary tasks include policy analysis, drafting articles, producing reports and written documents, including producing content for the weekly departmental newsletter (SASI News) and other visual/social media materials for use (PowerPoint, news clips, tweets, etc.) by the team.

SASI Interns also perform research and policy analysis on short and long-term projects. Interns play an important role in preparing state advocacy materials for use by GA and AARP’s 53 state offices, including, but not limited to: creating fact sheets for state office use, drafting and editing PowerPoint presentations, tracking news articles and legislative and regulatory actions, organizing and updating shared advocacy guidance and materials made available to state offices within the SASI Library, culling key data and statistics from research, and working on deadline. 

Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered  undergraduate juniors or seniors.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Intern candidates should have superior writing and policy analysis skills, the ability to synthesize and clearly communicate information, and a keen desire to learn about economic security.
Compensation/Benefits: 
  • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
