World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Development Coordinator, Strategic Philanthropy at our Washington, DC office.
Coordinates and implements processes and systems related to the cultivation and solicitation of principal gift donors and prospects – including Board and National Council members - with a direct impact on revenue goals. Functions include revenue tracking and analysis, stewardship, information tracking and project management.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Donor Cultivation – Assists gift officers with all aspects of principal donor cultivation which may include planning of complex meetings and coordination with offices of CEO and SVP Development. Periodic travel for donor-related meetings and events may also be required. Creates and maintains CRM database records on all principal gift donors and prospects, including regularly updating records to reflect recent activity, changes in contact information and interaction with WWF staff. May proof donor reports and proposals as needed. Liaises with gift processing team and others, as needed, to resolve any discrepancies in data.
- Report Preparation –Using information found largely in CRM, works with systems liaison to prepare reports, calculate statistics and interpret data directly related to revenue and participation/activity of our most generous donors. In coordination with the Development Research team, may assist with compiling input for donor meetings, presentations and events. Will also be responsible for tracking and reporting Board and National Council giving in a variety of formats for use in Board reporting, National Council meetings, end of year revenue tracking, etc. Assists Prospect Management team with testing related to reporting structures/procedures and provides staff training when appropriate.
- Financial Accountability - Assists supervisor in developing preliminary data and background information for budget process. Similarly, tracks principal gift fundraising performance by working with the Prospect Management team to compile projections and revenue raised toward goal. May also compile and review reports submitted by others and package data for a variety of audiences.
- Communication - Serves as first point of contact for donors, Board and National Council members, program staff and the general public for donor inquiries and stewardship issues. Manages schedules and drafts correspondence on behalf of the Strategic Philanthropy team, as well as visiting international colleagues. Attends meetings and records minutes/notes when needed. Acts as Development liaison to program teams when asked by gift officers. Assists with communication around, and maintenance of, common platforms such as Sharepoint/inventory sites.
- General Office Duties – Performs general office duties such as making travel arrangements, coordinating mailings, processing expense reports and reimbursements, producing and distributing various materials, maintaining frequently used information (tax ID, 501c3, etc.) and maintaining electronic and paper files.
- Working Relationships
- Internal: Interacts daily with staff at all levels including senior leadership. Frequent interaction with counterparts across the department.
- External: Will have contact with Board and National Council members, other principal gift donors and prospects, vendors, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- A bachelor’s degree and two years of demonstrated and progressively responsible related experience. Fundraising experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise good judgment, poise and discretion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to proof and edit documents.
- Demonstrated ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software packages to create documents and reports.
- Knowledge of Team Approach or other fundraising database.
- Good organizational and analytical skills; excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks and complete work on time, with minimal supervision.
