The AARP Data Analytics and Performance Management group is looking for a strong graduate student to join the Advanced Analytics team as a summer intern. Our ideal candidate has strong analytical and programming skills, problem-solving abilities, is able to communicate well and interpret results to a non-technical audience.
- Work with big data to build queries or models with aarp.org and offline data to complete analytical requests such as profiling visitors to AARP online programs, evaluating the impact of internal programs or understanding the relationship between online and offline behaviors;
- Help rebuild our entire process to prepare clean data for modeling, including: missing data imputation, variable transformation and regrouping, with the goal of making the process more standardized and efficient;
- Assist with or lead building 1-2 predictive models to target the most responsive members for phone, email or direct mail campaigns.
- Assist with monitoring monthly changes to the database;
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
Requirements include:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience with SQL, SAS, R, or Pythonl
- Strong understanding of statistical knowledge, and experience with data mining or machine learning using SAS, R or Python preferred;
- Keen attention to details;
- Proficiency in Word, Power Point and Excel.
