We are looking for a creative, caring, fun, energetic individual to fill the Assistant Childcare Director position at our NAEYCE accredited YMCA Children Center in Washington DC. This is a tremendous opportunity to greatly impact the lives of children and families through YMCA programs. We are a growing association and need someone who has tenure and experience working in a leadership role in a child care program. At the YMCA you will create, facilitate, and implement curriculum, processes, and strategies that will provide the optimal Y experience for our "Y kids," parents, and families.
- Assists the Child Care Director with the overall operation of the program site(s), including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, health and safety of the children.
- Leads facility tours with prospective families
- Gives personal attention and supervision to every aspect of the center, including its appearance, maintenance, and cleanliness and ensures that appropriate supplies, materials and equipment are available.
- Maintaining daily staff schedule and handling staff personnel procedures
- Responsible for maintaining all staff and child participant files
- Attending monthly meetings with Director
- Handling staff, children and parent concerns with the Child Care Director
- Substitute in classrooms
- Assist with classroom observations and technical support
- 3-5 years' experience working at a child care program (Preschool & School age);
- progressive responsibility for development and delivery of program curriculum;
- staff supervision including training and development;
- Must be able to effectively communicate to parents, school staff, and children;
- Must be physically active to play games and sports with children.
