The Advisor, Technology Business Conferencing reports directly to the Director, End User Computing. The Technology Advisor provides technical supervision and oversees the conferencing infrastructure and service provision. He ensures that infrastructure is in place to support the required service level agreements, the infrastructure is reliable and performs as per the expected service levels and identifies opportunities for improvement in cost and performance effectiveness. This position will help AARP organize live events to include but not limited to;  training sessions, executive meetings, and remote interactions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end management of Business Conferencing
  • Infrastructure Level Incident Management/Problem Management
  • Identifying change requests in lieu of performance improvements and cost efficiencies
Areas of Responsibility: 

Functional / Technical Responsibilities

The Advisor, Technology Business Conferencing has significant interactions with key leaders in the Customer Service and Solution Delivery organization including IT colleagues in the Technology Service  Management group and Director of Networking. His/her key responsibilities include.

  • Day-to-day management of the conference portion of AARP’s infrastructure, and coordinating infrastructure road-map and changes to Business Conferencing Services
  • Maintaining the conference areas, determining conference room audio-visual needs and signage for fulfillment.
  • Manage escalations of unresolved issues to the appropriate Division of Information Technology management structure
  • Manage Escalations to providers as it relates to Business Conferencing Infrastructure support
  • Managing Infrastructure support incidents in the appropriate incident/problem management tracking system according to guidelines established by the Networking Team
  • Coordinating ad-hoc training needs for Business Conferencing Analysts and staff with main campus training unit
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned or required

Relationship Management

  • Work in partnership with Director, End User Computing, TECH, leaders on strategic initiatives related to conferencing services to continuously improve policies, standards and procedures by anticipating issues, providing advice and sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Develop strategic relationships with other team members and business partners and partner across the ITS team to align with AARP internal and external client demands.

The Advisor, Technology Business Conferencing, is responsible for owning the Business Conferencing infrastructure related to conference rooms and live events, and may also be tasked to develop new practices and policies. Assist the Sr. Advisor for Conferencing Services in serving as a contact for business partners; provide insight and expertise on how technology-based business solutions and process improvements can support/enable business objectives. This position requires a moderate degree of autonomy related to working with other teams within all AARP business units, ITS development and operations teams, vendors and external partners and others. This position will require a moderate degree of innovation and conceptualization of moving the domain forward in terms of its IT agility, value and alignment with the business goals and the architectural standards established by the Technology Strategy & Innovation group.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in the field of business, computers, information systems or related degree
Skills/Experience: 

Desired Education

  • 5 + years relevant work experience in related functional role
  • CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I certification
