We are looking for a Strategic Partnerships Associate to support the Strategic Partnerships team to expand and secure new partnership opportunities that advance health advocacy opportunities.

Your Role

We are looking for a Strategic Partnerships Associate to support the Strategic Partnerships team to expand and secure new partnership opportunities that advance health advocacy opportunities. The Associate will contribute to strong project management, exhibit a working knowledge of the health care landscape, and leverage the department’s processes and relationships to support existing and new partnerships and other project-related tasks. This position begins taking ownership of relationships with partners, often working independently to deepen partnerships and identify new partners ripe for engagement. The Associate works collaboratively with the various departments and with external coalition partners. 

Main job responsibilities:

General Partnerships Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support FUSA’s Strategic Partnerships team with a focus on cultivating and enhancing relationships with state partners and as needed, national partners.
  • Assist in executing on broad partnership outreach to state and national partners for rapid-response issues.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Strategic Partnerships team, to include executing on webinars, and ensuring internal coordination on products/deliverables.
  • Draft and produce broad communications, including action alerts, newsletters, and blast emails to partners.
  • Support event/action planning in collaboration with FUSA’s state and national partners.
  • Organize and coordinate planning, logistical, and staffing aspects of the annual national Health Action conference.
  • Contribute to the development of a broad range of written materials including fact sheets, blogs, talking points, comparison spreadsheets, resource lists, and other products.
  • Support the identification of strategic relationships with state and national partners (leveraging existing contacts, phone calls, emails, and web research).
  • Train and support the Partnerships Coordinator on logistical, administrative, and planning duties to support the Strategic Partnerships department.

Project Roles & Responsibilities

  • In coordination with Project Leads, provide support around strategic planning and management of project work, including updates and maintenance of project management tools (e.g., Asana) to ensure projects are on track and that colleagues are meeting deadlines.
  • Manage coalition and partnership building functions to advance project goals, including supporting existing state partners as a resource for thought partnership, technical assistance, and strategic support as appropriate.
  • Coordinate work with Communications, Federal Relations, and Health Policy departments to provide strategy, assistance and research for assigned projects.
  • Track and analyze state-level trends/legislation/policy/politics (e.g. through news scanning, web research and additional phone calls) related to project work and the broader healthcare landscape.
Skills/Experience: 

Your Experience

Undergraduate degree from accredited college or university and at least 2-3 years’ experience in a professional office setting, ideally at an organization within the health sector or advocacy space.  Experience in administrative, relationship management or project management.

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the mission, values and operating principles that inform Families USA’s work.
  2. General knowledge of the U.S. health system, major stakeholder segments and how they relate to one another (e.g., providers, plans, advocates, disease groups, employers, labor unions, etc.).
  3. Understanding of the political landscape and issues that are driving the health care conversation within Congress, states/governors, and as a part of upcoming elections.
  4. Knowledge of customer relationship management databases and vendor management (e.g., Zoom, EveryAction, Action Network, MailChimp, etc.).

  1. Strong oral, writing, and organizational skills with a keen attention to details. 
  2. Sound judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving and project management skills.
  3. Strong research and analytical skills.
  4. Capacity to handle multiple competing priorities – including the ability to be agile, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and project management software.
  6. Strong relationship building skills.
