Provides exceptional technical design and thought leadership for cloud computing, working with a world class product and development team.  Oversees all AEM development which powers www.aarp.org, stayingsharp.aarp.org, the AARP Now mobile app content, multiple voice skills, and several other digital properties.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversees and is responsible for the work output of dozens of AEM developers across multiple work streams and digital channels.
  • Serves on large business initiatives and enterprise digital transformation teams.
  • Leads technical design sessions and architect and document technical solutions that are aligned to project objectives.
  • Oversees the Adobe AEM platform in developing a secure software development life cycle.
  • Maintains scalable AWS cloud CMS.
  • Works with product owner, team leads, and developers in defining application architectures and implementation to ensure adherence to business requirements, technology standards, best practices, and business strategies.
  • Translates product and business goals into technical strategy and roadmap.
  • Oversees application security principles, including the development of secure coding standards and practices.
  • Works closely with product owners to refine requirements.
  • Develops and maintains technology solutions and processes that will enable organization to scale, innovate, and improve members’ digital experience.
  • Provides subject-matter-expertise, industry knowledge, and team leadership for the development team.
  • Enhances, fixes bugs, and increases performance of the existing codebase.
  • Facilitates design/architecture discussions.
  • Designs high-quality code that’s highly scalable and extensible.
  • Investigates, learns, and applies new technologies/processes.
  • Consults with management and clients on project status, scope, design, and outstanding issues.
  • Develops and presents architectural roadmaps. ­
Educational Background: 
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 12+ years of experience in a related field, with consumer-facing Java web development, 7+ years in a Tech Lead position, 5+ years of AWS or equivalent cloud architecture experience, 5+ years with REST web service development, and 3+ years as a solutions architect responsible for enterprise-scale projects.
  • Experience with AWS architectures, development, and deployment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, VPC, S3, Glacier, EFS, AWS Kinesis, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora and Dynamo DB
  • Experience in deploying CI/CD practices in an embedded software environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and building maintainable automation solutions for delivering on large-scale platforms.
  • Significant experience developing within a Content Management System.
  • Work with Adobe Experience Manger and Adobe Audience Manager highly preferred.
  • Experience in testing and test automation preferable.
  • Demonstrated strong partnering skills.
  • Comfortable managing complicated technical projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technology to the business.
  • Travel required (10%).
