The Research Manager is responsible for executing and overseeing all of Vote Mama’s research projects. To do so, the Research Manager will efficiently and strategically lead data collection, analysis, and completing outputs in collaboration with the Communications team and contractors.
Research and Data Management

Collect, organize and analyze large sets of data

Identify patterns and trends, and draft products that summarize findings

As needed, work with the communications team to interpret research and leverage findings for multiple purposes and audiences, such as social media, op-eds, website posts, and more.
Project Management

Manage the relationship with contractors who work on reports and research, holding project management and ensuring quality and timeliness of work product

Manage all aspects of the data collection and analysis process, including coordination of internal and external stakeholders and contractors.
A typical day
On a typical day, you might map out the process for a new research project, spend time doing analysis of a complex data set, or create custom reports for external audiences. You’ll manage a variety of internal and external stakeholders as part of each project, but have a high level of comfort working independently spending long stretches of time on in depth research most of the day.
The ideal candidate for this role is a research wizard with exceptional database and Excel skills. You love managing complex research or data projects, distilling information for a variety of audiences, approaching projects with curiosity and a deep desire to push boundaries in your research. The Research Manager will report to Sarah Hague, Chief Program Officer.
Required Skills for this Role

5+ years experience designing, managing and executing research projects

Advanced experience working with Excel, possessing the ability to use spreadsheets, graphing, tables, calculations, and automation efficiently to process large quantities of data

Experience building out and working with complex data sets and statistics

Experience and a high level of comfort working with a variety of database systems

Previous experience managing contractors and being the lead project manager on complex, long-term lines of work

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to enact creative solutions in new or unfamiliar projects

Interest in political research as well as strong alignment with mission

Commitment to learning and implementing current best practices in the policy research field

Ability to engage diverse individuals around a common goal

Commitment to Vote Mama’s goals and theory of change, and passion for grassroots organizing and commitment to progressive policy change

Salary: $85,000-$105,000
