Strategic outreach to and engagement with new and existing external stakeholders and partners is a priority for the Center for Democracy & Technology.
The Outreach Coordinator (OC) assists with core external affairs functions, including outreach to and follow up with external stakeholders, engagement with and optimization of advisory networks, and the planning and execution of events. Reporting to the Vice President of Externals Affairs, the OC plays a vital support role in expanding CDT’s brand and strengthening strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, creative, and have strong interpersonal skills. The position is based in CDT’s Washington, D.C., office.
This position will be integral to CDT expanding its outreach to and engagement with strategic partners. Responsibilities will include:
- Assist with development and execution of outreach strategy to core external networks, including the Advisory Council and Academic Fellows network;
- Build and maintain outreach databases, including current and prospective partner
- Support in planning and executing external-facing events on- and off-site, including coordination of travel for speakers & guests;
- Assist with planning and scheduling regional engagement activities across the U.S.;
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with event vendors & venues;
- Grow relationships with academic institutions;
- Support communications team with media relations and podcast planning as needed; and
- Other tasks as assigned.
The responsibilities related to this position will expand as our efforts grow, creating considerable room for growth.
The Outreach Coordinator position is an important external-facing position for the organization. It’s an ideal role for an early-career professional who enjoys cultivating and expanding strategic partnerships. The candidate should have some experience in an office setting. Specific qualifications include:
- Experience planning and executing events;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to interact with stakeholders at a variety of levels of seniority;
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus;
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills;
- Attention to detail and resourcefulness;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivated; and
- Proficiency with standard web-based collaborative office software, as well as systems such as PowerPoint, Excel, and G Suite.
