Deep in the Heart of Texas! We are looking for an accounting professional to provide leadership for our finance and business operations.

This position provides direction and leadership for YMCA finance and business operations, to include budget preparation. Oversees the YMCAs accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and preparation of its financial reports. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness in accordance with GAAP standards. Manages the annual external audit, the 990 tax return and the preparation of information, as required by major financial contributors.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages all functions of accounting and business operations, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met and that best practices and maximum efficiency are obtained.
  • Implements appropriate systems and internal controls that adequately safeguard the YMCAs financial resources and provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data for current and long-term planning.
  • Oversees monthly, quarterly and year-end procedures. Prepares financial statements and reports as requiredby management, Finance Committee, the Board of Directors, United Way, YMCA of the USA and governmental agencies.
  • Prepares reconciliations of all GL accounts on a monthly basis, to include bank accounts.
  • Oversees assigned staff, providing direct supervision to include accounts payable and receivables.
  • Manages the annual independent audit, prepares financial statements and audit schedules; maintains records; and acts as liaison with audit team.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience of accounting and at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting preferred.
  • Expertise with accounting systems and standard business software.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
