Under the direction of the CEO, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for the day to day operations which include membership, aquatics, healthy living, and various program areas. Participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.

The Waco Family Y branch is an 85,000 square foot facility servicing over 3500 member units with approximately 150 employees.  Applicants should have strong organizational and leadership skills that lead to the successful accomplishment of the essential duties and responsibilities. The Branch Executive Director will be expected to foster relationships and grow the reach of the branch by increasing membership and implementing new programs. Experience in fiscal management and financial development, community relations, supervision, and volunteer development is also important. He or she should possess the ability to develop relationships with corporate sponsors for fundraising opportunities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and directs high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Implements membership strategies that support the recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.  Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop and direct high-quality member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Develops communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for supporting the Y.
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in the service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff. Conducts performance reviews, and creates a continuous dialogue of staff development.
  • Establishes, with Association and branch leadership, long-range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall objectives.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Ensures the maintenance of facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Provides staff support for assigned committees. Leads assigned aspects of the annual support campaign and meet or exceeds goals.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate the benefit to the community.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; field of Business, Management preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management in health and wellness is essential; YMCA or other non-profit agency operations management experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing, and public relations, and program development
  • Previous experience with $1 million budget or higher preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00
