The Wabash County YMCA is seeking a self-motivated, cause-driven professional to join our team. Under the direction of the VP of Membership & Program Operations, the Director of Aquatics and Well-Being is responsible for providing leadership to the Aquatics and Wellness Departments. The position plays an integral role in member retention, program quality, and engagement. The Director will provide supervision to the aquatics staff and wellness staff, support summer camp staff, enrichment programs, Swim Club, Swim Team, and drive superior program quality. This position ensures the teams operate efficiently and employ a continuous model to meet and /or exceed goals for member/participation satisfaction, financial management and overall growth.
Critical areas of expertise include: leading others and working in teams, maintaining highly organized program management, delivering and managing programs focusing on quality, exhibits proven results in growth in programs, illustrate successful staff development.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives
- Recruits, hires, trains, and leads staff and volunteers as needed within aquatic and wellness departments
- Responsible for daily pool and wellness department operations and compliance to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
- Maintains accurate data of wellness department and pools including pool chemical checks and routine maintenance
- Strong concentration on building Wellness Center staff to focus on member engagement and retention
- Build and maintain positive relationship with members and staff
- Support YMCA initiatives related to membership retention and annual campaign
- Assure adequate pool, wellness center, and program coverage for all shifts. Covers shifts when staff are absent or additional staff is required
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate pool water chemical balance, cleanliness in and around pool, locker rooms, and wellness center
- Responsible for budget development and management of wellness and aquatic departments. Authorizes department expenditures within allotted budget timeline, provides budget reports in a timely manner including budget preparation and monthly income/expense controls justifications.
- Attend director meetings, board meetings, and/or other required meetings
- All other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 2 years supervision preferred
- Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results

- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet grant fidelity markers
- Proficient in using email, internet and other PC based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology

- Ability to quickly build rapport and develop relationships within the community as well as among peers and staff
- Experience working in a Y (or similar) membership organization
- Self starting, highly motivated with the ability to exceed goals
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision making
- Enthusiastic, energetic, fun loving and able to work with a wide variety of people of all ages
Salary: $36,000.00 - $41,000.00
