The Senior Youth Development Director is responsible for the administration, coordination, planning, supervision and delivery of the licensed YMCA School Age Child Care Program, Preschool program, Summer Day Camp, Holiday Camps and on-site child care for the Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA and Salem Family Center. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan, develop and implement Preschool, Summer Day Camp, Holiday Camp and Before and After School programs.
  • Maintain state license for child care and ensures the YMCA is in compliance for state inspections of child care facility
  • Provide strong leadership and support for attaining association’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide strong fiscal management in all areas of responsibility.
  • Under the direction of the Vice President of Youth Development, provide support and guidance to the Virginia Beach Region YMCA’s, including Indian River, Princess Anne, Hilltop and Eastern Shore YMCA youth programs. 
  • Provide strong fiscal management in all areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate YMCA mission and objectives to the community.
  • Assist and foster strong Annual Support Campaign.
  • Monitor and ensure the achievements of department objectives.
  • Prepare the annual income and expense budget for the above-mentioned departments and facility, ensuring the operations are carried out in a balanced fiscal position.
  • Responsible for the purchase, inventory and delivery of all program-related supplies.
  • Coordinate food and beverage with local distributors for child care snacks and ensure they follow USDA requirements.
  • Supervise the Youth Development Director at Salem Family YMCA.
  • Achieve and maintain the Association Gold Book standards, ensuring the highest quality programs and services.
  • Meet HEPA standards in regards to healthy eating and physical activity.
  • Work with the Association’s strategic plan on closing the Achievement Gap.
  • Serve as staff liaison to board designated committees.
  • Participate on related association program cabinets and training.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all staff and volunteers in related departments. Conduct all appropriate staff training and meetings.
  • Responsible for program promotions & marketing.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness and function of all related facilities and equipment for childcare through regular inspections and appropriate actions.
  • Attend training as related to areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with delivery of Center special events.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree.  Childhood Education or related field preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • College courses in education, recreation or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 year experience in managing, directing and administering school ageprograms.
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred or must receive within 6 months of hire.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/O2/MAT certified preferred or must receive within 60 days of hire.
  • YMCA Multi-Team Leader Certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00
