This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Through the direction of the Senior Director of Child Development, the Senior Director of School Age and Day Camp Programs at the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA oversees the development and operations of the school age and day camp programs including designing and ensuring the implementation of the practices, processes, and procedures necessary for strong programs and project management. The Senior Director of School Age & Day Camps is also responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operating plans in order to promote the program and/or membership growth for the CCAYMCA. This position collects and analyzes monthly statistical information as well as creates, implements, and oversees the data for the Principal and Parent surveys.
- Develops, controls, and maintains department budgets so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.
- In conjunction with the School Age and Day Camp staff, oversees 1,000 children in the programs as well as 8 school districts, over 25 school sites during School Age Programs and 3 camp locations during Day Camp season including an over 80-acre camp location.
- Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Measures progress against strategic goals and ensures continuous improvement.
- Works in conjunction with the Child Care Administrative Coordinator to ensure compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Uses data to analyze financial trends and forecast future financial progress for the organization.
- In conjunction with Human Resources and the Child Care Administrative Coordinator hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Organizes people and activities for efficiencies and effectiveness including special events at the YMCA and the school sites.
- Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, demonstrating courageous and intelligent risk taking with awareness of societal, economic, and diversity of our community and their impact on the strategic direction of the organization.
- Communication with and promotion of the programs with school staff, faculty, and administration.
- Ensuring and documenting that program components are being implemented and promoted.
- Collection and analysis of monthly statistical information regarding the programs and how it is meeting budgetary goals.
- Seeks out and recognizes new and relevant ideas and approaches to develop and expand the programs.
- Required- minimum of 21 years of age
- Required- At least 4 years of school age care experience, preferably a YMCA or other non-profit agency
- Preferred but not required at least 2 years of experience working in the public or private school sector
- Preferred but not required YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or working towards Certification.
- Required- Previous budget responsibilities including developing and maintaining a departmental budget
- Required- Previous Management, Supervisory, and/or Director experience
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
- Prior knowledge of and experience in working with diverse social and economic populations
- Ability to work within time constraints and produce results
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to travel to other locations within the program as needed
Salary: $42,866.00 - $53,583.00
