We are looking for a full-time Sports and Teen Program Director at the Barbara Bauer Briggs Family YMCA in Victoria, Texas. Position is responsible for managing all sports and teen programs including recruitment and development of volunteers, supervision of sports activities including creating game schedules, ordering trophies, scheduling staff, etc. and working to better our community by building healthy kids and families. Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands sports and teen programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Effectively communicates to Coaches, Volunteers, and Parents and internally to Member Services, sports schedules, practice times, and gym reservations.
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
  • Organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of sports & teen program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Develop, manage, and grow the annual budget; specific functions include creating, monitoring, forecasting, and aligning operations to coincide with annual plan, adjusting where necessary to deliver a balanced budget.
  • Work with other program staff to provide the maximum usage of facilities by members and guests of all ages and program interests.
  • Work with member services and other program staff to assist in retaining new members and helping them connect with youth and adult programming options.
  • Any other duties as assigned for the betterment of the organization.
  • Work with staff and collaborate with other community leaders to implement the Achiever’s Program, Teen Leaders Club, and Youth & Government.
  • Evaluate current programs and research, develop, and implement new programs that align with our strategic plan.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
