Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s).
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
- Recruits, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff, establish efficiencies and achieve goals.
- Ensures team members lead by example and serve as positive role models to program participants.
- Organizes and oversees program activities and events.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, develops and distributes parent newsletter, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Organizes, and conducts Leaders Club activities and events.
- Secures facilities for program activities and events.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Facilitates and coordinates participation in community events, expos, on and offsite open houses, etc. in order to increase awareness and foster relationships in YMCA programs.
- Maintains a high level of facility cleanliness and order.
- Ensures assigned team members possess required trainings and certifications for position.
- Ensures assigned locations are safe and communicates identified risks to supervisor.
Before and After School
- Organizes, plans, and executes all activities for enrolled children.
- Monitors the classroom area at all times to ensure safety, and immediately makes changes as necessary.
- Provides a positive environment for all participants, and actively encourages participation to ensure growth and development.
- Exemplifies appropriate behavior and is a role model for participants; actively listens to all children and shows patience, understanding, and respect for others.
- Instructs and guides participants through the rules of the program and ensures adherence; disciplines children within established guidelines of the YMCA and parent, and only when appropriate.
- Immediately reports all unusual incidents or accidents to the Childcare Program Director, and fills out all applicable and necessary reports.
- Records daily attendance and maintains accurate and complete records.
- Ensures all necessary supplies are on hand and well maintained at all times.
- All other duties as required and necessary.
- On-site attendance is required of this position
Summer and Full Day Camp
- Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities.
- Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Secures facilities and admission for camp field trips and events.
- Secures and monitors transportation for field trips.
- Purchases and maintains supplies for camp activities.
- Purchases and distributes camp t-shirts.
Skills/Experience:
- Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
- Able to set measurable goals and evaluate achievement of goals
- Able to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
- Must be a self starter, with high energy and a positive attitude
- Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
- Able to analyze data
- Able to develop and understand program budget
