The Youth In Government (YIG) Director is responsible for oversight and ongoing development and implementation of the YMCA’s Youth In Government Program at a YMCA association. The YIG Director establishes the YIG Program Model by recruiting, training, and matching schools and participants, as well as responsible for managing risk. They ensure uniformity of training curriculum, data collection, outcome objectives, and ongoing program support. The YIG Director serves as the YIG point person for the respective association and is supervised by their respective YIG National Leader who assists with messaging, marketing, and brokering linkages to all available YMCA resources. The YIG Director will travel accordingly to ensure program maximization. The YIG Director ensures that all goals and objectives are met for the program in their association and must have the ability to clearly document outcomes and data per program protocols.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

- Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
- Be able to develop, manage, and monitor the program operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets
- Have knowledge of broad base of educational and related programs.
- Have the ability to plan, organize and direct youth and teen programs as related to Youth in Government
- Be experienced in recruiting and training of instructors and volunteers
- Be experienced in scheduling, programming, promoting, and monitoring all program activities.
- Be competent in direct leadership such as teaching classes in select program areas.
Required Certifications
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required
- Annual completion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
- Annual completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class
- Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
