Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s) for school age children.  The program director leads afterschool, camp and sports programming.         

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives (see detailed list below). 
  • Recruits, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and assist with processing program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Organizes and oversees program activities and events.
  • Recruits and coordinates and ensures screening for volunteers from the local community.
  • Coordinates and monitors teen summer camps.
  • Organizes, and conducts Leaders Club/Leadership High School activities and events.
  • Secures facilities for program activities and events.
  • Facilitates and coordinates participation in community events, expos, on and offsite open houses, etc. in order to increase awareness and foster relationships in YMCA programs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Preferred candidate posesses Florida DCF Director's credential and one to two years of related experience.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening

Required Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Annual completion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
  • Annual completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications. 
  • Additional training classes as recommended by supervisor.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00
