The Leader, Healthy Living is responsible for leading a team of staff and volunteers in carrying out variety of tactics and programs that are aligned with the Association’s strategic direction. Leaders will work effectively with members and community stakeholders.
Areas of Responsibility:
- YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred or required within 3 years of hire date or position acceptance.
- Associates degree in a related area preferred. HS Diploma required
- Three (3) years or more experience with Youth and Teen program development, implementation, and management required. At least 1-year coordinating specialty programs (e.g. aquatics, sports, recreation, etc.).
- Ability to attract, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership.
- Familiarity working with schools and community-based agencies preferred.
- Must have commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
- Knowledge of YMCA program of YDPP and Live-strong
- Must reside in Southern California
Skills/Experience:
- Under the Direction of the Branch Director, the Leader directs program staff and volunteers in the implementation and delivery of tactics and programs related to Healthy Living. Evaluate programs for operational effectiveness including budgetary goals and impact. Enforces and adheres to program standards regarding safety and risk management.
- Recruit, lead, develop and evaluate staff and volunteers. Leads staff meetings and trainings as scheduled and required.
- Work as a member of a team to design and implement Healthy Living initiatives. a. Partner with designated team to deliver chronic disease prevention programs (DPP, LiveStrong, etc.). Develop effective relationships with doctors and health service providers to generate a referral network, 3rd party payer network, and to attract program participants. b. Design and implement small group training program for the YMCA to ensure health seekers meet their fitness goals in small supportive groups. c. Work with staff teams on special events to expand participation and sponsorships.
- Effectively works within the operating budget and controls staff and program expenses as needed and required. Meets financial reporting deadlines and requirements as needed.
- Participates in team fundraising strategies and opportunities and provide support and team leadership to the Association’s annual support campaign.
- Promote the Y and Healthy Living initiatives, programs, and benefits.
- Follows and enforces YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, emergencies, dress guidelines, and cleanliness standards.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
