Risk and Policy Manager

As the Risk and Policy Manager, you will be part of the larger Risk and Compliance Team. You will be a strong project manager who will lead and support different risk management and policy projects across the organization, including quarterly risk reporting, bi-annual policy update process, managing the organization’s insurance portfolio, and other critical initiatives. You will also utilize your outstanding critical thinking, communication, and project-management skills to collaborate on key strategic initiatives within the team. In this role, you will interact with numerous stakeholders across Teach For America as well as be part of a small and dynamic team that provides strategic perspective to both our national and regional teams.  The Risk and Policy Manager will report to the Senior Managing Director, Strategy and Risk and will work closely with the Senior Managing Director, Project Management Office.

Areas of Responsibility: 

 

Risk Management

  • Conduct in depth risk analysis and provide recommendations for how to address areas of emerging risk such as policy recommendations or mitigation
  • Partner with teams to help define key risks and develop mitigation plans where required
  • Plan and lead key risk management projects such as regional risk reviews
  • Support and eventually lead quarterly risk reporting process
  • Be a trusted partners to teams when they have risk management questions or incidents

Policy Management

  • Lead policy acknowledgement process to ensure that all staff are aware of TFA policies
  • Support policy management taskforce to continue to refine and streamline TFA organizational policies
  • Support policy hub initiative to make accessing TFA policies easier
  • Manage rollout of regional and national team role and responsibilities clarification project

 Insurance Management

  • Manage insurance e-mail inbox; respond to queries coming in from national & regional teams
  • Support annual insurance renewal process
  • Develop recommendations to align our insurance portfolio with TFA’s risk profile
  • Track and follow-up on claims and other insurance related matters
Skills/Experience: 
  • 6+ years of work experience, project management experience required. Insurance experience is helpful but not required (e.g. claims management, policy renewal, etc.)
  • Proven history of taking initiative and driving projects forward
