The Research Associate will work with the research coordinator to identify and research needs of 350.org campaign teams and departments. The Research Associate will then work with the Research Coordinator to prioritize these needs. The Research Associate will also be involved in the process of outsourcing research projects, and occasionally conduct campaign related research in house.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Consult 350.org key staff, campaigns managers, and priority movement campaigns to coordinate the implementation of research needs
  • To catalog and streamline existing campaign related research for use of 350.org departments and teams.
  • Together with the research coordinator, design research projects requested based on campaign team requests and prioritize these requests.
  • Contribute to the preparation of ToRs for outsourced research projects.
  • Contribute to periodical reviews for 350 staff, identifying political, economic, scientific and social trends from a 350.org strategic perspective.
  • Monitor current events, policy decisions and legislation changes globally. Work with regional teams on their interpretation and how they affect 350 campaigns.
  • Prepare infographics and brief notes for the use of 350.org campaign teams.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Analytical ability to read and evaluate databases
  • Ability to distill broad research requests to specific research questions and design research projects.
  • Prioritize research needs to fit limited resources.
  • Be able to manage multiple research projects.
  • Good time management skills to deliver projects on time.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt on the run.
  • Good skills to use spreadsheets and documents effectively and creatively.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones.

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Graphical skills to create visual representations of research results; create infographics and memes
