The Organising and Campaigning Tools and Products Manager is responsible for improving the capacity for staff throughout the organisation to organise and campaign using 350’s organising and campaigning platforms -- currently including ActionKit, Action Network, Control Shift and others. They understand the uses and distinctions between each, and the reasons/timing/processes for transitioning groups between. They seek out and gather the evolving needs of the organisation concerning these products and synthesize these needs into a product roadmap.

This role oversees all aspects of making these tools work better for the programme, communications, and fundraising staff that use them, from functionality to training and adoption. The Organising and Campaigning Tools Product Manager also works hand in hand with the other product managers on the highly coordinated digital products team. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Roadmap owner/manager for overall organizing tools landscape.
  • Roadmap owner/manager for development of each individual tool.
  • Gathers organizational requirements for digital organizing products.
  • Understand the landscape of options, opportunities, costs among tools.
  • Setting priorities for roadmap, in coordination with the Digital Director.
  • Coordinate robust support and training structure for users of tools org-wide, whether operating training from own team, or more likely using a train-the-trainers model for designated supervisors within each division.
  • Engage and manage external expertise for advanced strategic and technical guidance and execution.
  • Consider and integrate where appropriate new tools as needed (e.g. SMS tool) in coordinated way that protects organization’s data backbone, working closely with Data Science team.
  • Manage team, protect their ability to set realistic goals and achieve them.
  • Protect organization’s priorities and needs of staff around organizing and campaigning.
  • Help coordinate win-win solutions with peer product managers on shared projects.
  • Make recommendations and own projects related to integrating new tools, shuttering and migrating off of tools as organization’s needs and capacities evolve.
  • Interfaces with other product managers to maintain tightly-coordinated technology ecosystem.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Technical Skills: Technical experience and understanding are helpful, and an array of experience in strategic technical roles is important. However, this role will be significantly more focused on leadership and strategy, as well as being able to translate user needs into well-defined requirements and user stories to be implemented by internal and external technical resources. The most important technical skill is the ability to manage technical staff and external developers and understand the details of what they are doing.
  • Self-Management: Ability to set professional boundaries. Resilient and able to manage self and keep composure in times of stress. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Management of others: Ability to ignite the interests and proclivities of the team to get top quality work, while protecting their prioritised workloads. Required Qualifications:

  • Experience managing people and projects
  • Experience in digital campaigning and organising
  • Experienced using tools such as Action Kit, Action Network or similar tools like Nationbuilder, Blue State Digital
  • Able to develop and drive forward the vision and strategy of the product team
  • Highly detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation/Benefits: 

Competitive compensation based on experience. Some global salary ranges include:

  • South Africa:  455,600 ZAR - 569,500ZAR
  • United Kingdom: 44,700GBP - 55,900GBP
  • United States: 64,000USD - 80,000USD
