Provide provisional management oversight and interim chapter support to ensure the continued opportunity for success and productive partnerships with the Home Office and volunteer leadership. Responsible for the consistent coordination of Home Office assistance to assigned chapter(s); regular communication between chapter and national volunteers and staff on such matters as chapter needs, opportunities and problems, as well as national policies, directions, and initiatives. Design and implement management and priority campaign training for new executive staff and volunteer leadership in identified markets.
Chapter Guidance and Oversight:
- Provide onsite management guidance to assigned chapter through performance planning, objective setting, performance monitoring, review and annual evaluation, campaign implementation, mission delivery and guidance on overall chapter development.
- Assess and recommend ways to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of chapter operations, including staffing plans, administrative systems, management procedures, risk reduction, facilities and equipment.
- Assess and recommend ways to enhance the chapter’s organizational presence and overall performance in primary and secondary market areas.
- Assist senior field leadership in working with the chapter board’s search committee and home office senior management in the search and selection process for new chapter Executive Directors, in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Advise Executive Directors in the selection of key chapter staff and assist with on-boarding and orientation.
- Act as the Interim Executive in the absence of an Executive Director.
- Assist senior field leadership with providing a comprehensive on-boarding and orientation to new executive directors and identified volunteer leaders
Planning and Communications:
- Act as a facilitator with chapter board, providing guidance on board development, strategic direction, society priorities and initiatives.
- Support chapter planning process, both strategic and operational.
- Coordinate Home Office and volunteer resources and plans for assistance to chapters.
- Identify training and support needs of chapter staff and volunteers, and coordinate provisions of appropriate resources.
Fund Raising and Marketing & Communications:
- Assist RVP with revenue management, developing campaign budgets, annual plans and measurement against long term strategies.
- Assist in developing chapter specific plans for campaigns, donor development, volunteer engagement and all other chapter priorities.
- Identify and coordinate high ROI fundraising and community development collaboration opportunities between chapters.
Field Management:
- Provide assessment of market areas including income trends, demographics, ROI (return on investment), and potential for income and volunteer development.
- Recommend and lead the facilitation of territorial realignments including the establishment of offices or new chapters.
- Identify and coordinate regional opportunities in training, income development, public awareness, sponsorships and volunteer engagement and development.
Other:
- When necessary, assess and monitor the chapter annual and monthly budgets, cash flow, financial forecasts, compliance and reporting.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of current LLS executive leadership and management priorities, communicating them to local audiences as required at regular intervals
- May be required to implement special project as required by the EVP
- Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity
- Travel up to 50% nationwide and to national office
- Ability for long term, onsite assignments at assigned chapter(s)
- Broad knowledge, experience, and skill in non-profit management with emphasis on strategic planning, financial management, organizational and volunteer development, fundraising, problem solving, and team building.
- Ability to leverage relationships and negotiate agreements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership, supervisory and team building skills.
