  • You will be the lead designer for Teach For America’s selection model research and will be a member of our core research team of five team members actively working to innovate our approach to selecting corps members.
  • A primary focus of the role is designing and leading research projects and pilots. We are looking for an exceptional user-centered designer and strong project manager with quantitative and analytical skills.  
  • You will be passionate for the job and will be committed to ensuring all aspects of research and design are approached through a lens of equity and will work to identify and eliminate bias.
  • You will have the ability to view challenges and opportunities through multiple lenses, the ability to see the big picture and stay focused on our strategy, the ability to communicate complex data and narratives both verbally and in written communication and the ability to manage multiple cross-team projects at the same time.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead the design of key research projects and pilots for our corps member selection model research with a focus on equity and user-centered design
  • Plan and manage multiple research projects and pilots simultaneously
  • Collaborate with the core research team to drive all selection research forward including participating in analyses, communication, vision-setting, and establishing priorities
  • Design new questions, rubrics, examples and assessments for the selection model
  • Maintain the design of the current selection competencies to reflect our most up-to-date learnings
  • Partner with the Admissions Team and  beyond to ensure strong collaboration and hand-offs
  • Act as a team player on the Selection Quality Team which regularly works together to move critical work forward in a timely manner (participating in aspects of selector training, selecting and contributing to our quality control process, etc…)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five to seven years of experience
  • Prior experience in user-centered design preferred
  • Prior experience considering diversity and equity in research, hiring and/or recruitment
  • TFA staff experience preferred
  • Experience in recruitment/admissions preferred

    • Able to work across multiple moving projects, with the ability to prioritize themselves and other researchers in regards to what is most important and what is needed when.
  • Strong reasoning and strategic thinking:
    • Able to see through the trees and understand how multiple moving pieces work together while making all decisions in alignment with our strategy
    • Comfort analyzing data and using Excel and BOB J
  • Strong communicator:  able to communicate complex data and narratives both verbally and in written communication
  • Exemplifies Teach For America’s core values and values working with colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives

 Work Demands

  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities, on average, once monthly.
  • Evening and weekend work required during busy seasons and at tight deadlines.
