The Recruitment Team seeks a Managing Director of Recruitment to lead a cohort of campus recruiters as the cohort: headhunts top, diverse prospects from freshmen through senior years; executes meetings, events, programming, and presentations to inspire, inform and deepen students’ commitment to join TFA, from submitting their application, completing our interview process, confirming their offers, and, ultimately, joining their fellow corps members at induction; engages corps members, alumni, and utilizes centralized resources to facilitate a tailored prospect journey for all associated individuals.
The ideal candidate possesses strong networking and influencing skills, has experience managing others and/or leading teams, enjoys solving complex problems, and has demonstrated an ability to lead teams toward ambitious goals. Each Managing Director of Recruitment will report to a Vice President of Campus Recruitment.
The ideal candidate will be based in Washington, DC; however, select locations in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic may be possibilities as well.
- SET VISION & DIRECTION for a cohort of recruiters to meet the RT charge by: 1) establishing goals, benchmarks and structures that will empower the cohort to execute exemplary, outcomes-driven recruitment, and 2) working alongside staff members to articulate and set visions and strategies for their work and campaign goals.
- HIRE, SUPPORT, and RETAIN a dynamic, talented and effective cohort. Assess cohort’s learning and development needs and work with the Vice President and Learning & Development team to design and facilitate successful ongoing learning experiences that simultaneously support achieving outcomes and the professional growth of staff members.
- BUILD AND FOSTER A THRIVING TEAM CULTURE with core values as the foundation, leading across the RT, leaning into challenges where there is disagreement, and actively contributing to broader strategy as a part of the Management Team.
- MANAGE 5-10 direct reports at the director, manager, senior associate or associate level; coaching, investing and empowering cohort to collectively meet or exceed all key performance indicators.
- COMMUNICATE with the Vice President to consistently assess progress toward cohort goals and priorities. Maintain communication across the managing director (MD) group to represent the needs and perspective of cohort. Draw conclusions and identify highest-impact levers for team to utilize to optimize cohort/RT strategy and execution. Leverage data, staff reflections, and lessons learned to identify new ideas, projects, and/or iterate vision to improve overall impact and effectiveness.
- Travel required at least two weeks per month, on average
- Evening and weekend work required during heavier periods of the recruitment season
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and with cultural competence across diverse groups
- Management experience required. Experience managing a geographically dispersed team preferred
- Teach For America recruitment experience highly preferred.
