Teach For America’s Human Assets Team is seeking a Managing Director of Knowledge and Learning (MD, K&L) on the People Development Team (PDT). This person will provide proactive and responsive design and facilitation support to regions and teams and drive the development of learning resources for all staff. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience of design and facilitation for adults, a passion for Teach For America’s mission and personal passion for learning, leading, teaching, and developing others. This person has a commitment to evolving staff development initiatives across broad content and varied learning channels, working on high-impact, complex, often fast-paced, org-wide initiatives and collaborating with others to get results. The MD, K&L reports directly to the Senior Managing Director, Knowledge and Learning on People Development and works closely with People Development Home Team Partners, People Partners, other colleagues across Human Assets and with national and regional team leaders.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Managing Director, People Development – Knowledge & Learning designs and delivers resources that enable TFA’s team leaders and staff to live into our core values and commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and act on Human Assets’ org-wide people, talent, and culture strategies.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Design knowledge and learning experiences and resources with a consistent focus on diversity, equity, and inclusiveness driven by Human Assets’ org-wide talent, culture, and people strategy
  • Partner by providing consultation, an overview of existing resources, or co-designing with other Human Assets subject matter experts (SMEs) or teams
  • Deliver these – in-person at times and where possible through the facilitation of distance-learning opportunities and by building self-paced or ‘live virtual’ courses, though there will be opportunity to explore other methods – to team leaders and staff.
  • Contribute directly to central service offerings like our Diversity, Equity & Inclusiveness design, facilitative leadership institute and our manager learning experiences (incl. design, facilitation, coaching, etc.)
  • Contribute and model our diversity, equity, and inclusive work and actively assess, learn, and reflect
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • Strong knowledge base and previous experience with designing trainings and professional development resources for adult learners, including facility with on-demand and distance learning resource and course development
  • Strong knowledge base and previous experience with designing learning around diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, building culture, and talent and performance management
  • Experience (and/or ability and willingness to) work/collaborate with dispersed teams/remotely
  • Experience, comfort, and proven effectiveness in delivering high quality work in a  fast-paced, high stakes context

Skills

  • Able to quickly build content knowledge and partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to design learning and development (L & D) resources across a range of content
  • Proven effectiveness as a facilitator of adult learning experiences (both virtually and in person) and in particular of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness content
  • Strong critical thinker with the ability to synthesize information, to build responsive design solutions and strategies, and to make sound decisions quickly
  • Able to communicate ideas to others clearly, simply, and compellingly (verbally and in writing)
  • People and team-oriented; able to work both independently and in highly collaborative settings with a strong partnership orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and with cultural competence across diverse groups
  • Strong record of leadership on diversity and inclusiveness

Work Demands
