Manager, Decision Quality

Each year, Teach For America receives tens of thousands of applications. As the Manager, Decision Quality, you will play a critical role in ensuring we equitably assess each applicant’s potential and admit the strongest future leaders to our corps. Specifically, you will manage the execution of large pieces of our internal quality control process. You will become an expert on reporting on admissions data. And you will work closely with senior admissions decisions makers to ensure they have the resources they need to make accurate, timely decisions about applicants. This role is for someone passionate about understanding the details of complex systems, improving them, and helping others navigate them.    

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Collaborates with the MD, Decision Quality to lead the execution of our admissions quality control process  [35%]
  • Partners with members of the Recruitment team, Admissions Operations team, Technology team, and others to ensure optimal functioning of the backend systems supporting admissions quality control [10%]
  • Evaluates ways to adjust admissions processes, with a focus on equity and efficiency [10%]
  • Proactively and reactively reports on admissions data, developing new reports as needed  [20%]
  • Builds community among our senior admissions decision makers and develops resources for this group [10%]
  • Supports broader Selection Quality initiatives such as designing and facilitating selector training and evaluating selector performance  [15%]
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2 to 5 years’ work experience required

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities, on average, 2-3 times per year
  • Evening and weekend work required during busy seasons and at tight deadlines, roughly 10-12 total weeks per year
