As a key member of The People Team, The Human Resources Generalist for Asia Pacific is critically positioned to help advance our People Agenda by supporting the Human Business Partner and wider Asia Pacific team to implement and execute key programs critical for attracting, developing, deploying, and managing a diverse and geographically disparate workforce. This region is critical to the success of TNC’s mission and requires dynamic staff and structures to operate effectively across country programs at different stages of development and complexity.  The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate with Core HR, other HR Generalists and HR liaisons to deliver excellent HR services to assigned Business Units and will disseminate relevant communication on behalf of the People Team.  The Human Resources Generalist provides generalist human resources support that include: employee relations, talent management, staff development and training, organizational development and recruiting.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and maintaining HR systems, programs, procedures and plans according to HR policies and will provide assistance to all levels of personnel on various HR-related issues. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

Stakeholder Relations

  • People Team: Build and maintain strong relationships with the following stakeholders on behalf of HRBP and AP, CA, HI HR:  Benefits Specialists, HRCCC, Recruiting Operations, HR Generalists, Systems and HR Liaisons (BU HR Operations) for the purposes of improving service, influencing change and streamline processes.  Serves as first point of contact with these stakeholders and share pertinent information with AP, CA, HI HR & HRBP.  Participate in HR Generalist calls and look for opportunities to partner and advance critical talent practices.  Works on projects with a focus on process improvement for all activities through employment life cycle.
  • Business Units:  Engage client groups in a proactive, high-touch manner and facilitate partner mindset.  Schedule and facilitate BU leader and HR Liaison calls with HRBP, develop agendas and invite special guests with the goal to facilitate collaboration and one team mindset.  Send People Team updates to all BU HR Liaisons & HRBP. 
  • Core HR Team for Region:  Schedule and facilitate HR working team meetings with HR and Operations colleagues in the BUs to facilitate strong connections and to ensure that the team has opportunities to participate in addressing complicated/complex problems for team learning, capacity development, and more effective solutions.  Ensure that each teammate has a voice in solutions.  Invite AP Ops leads, CA DFO and DOO, and HI DFO when appropriate.
  • Employees:  Empathetically, promptly, and effectively address all first-tier employee relations issues. Respond to routine employee/management questions and challenges based on functional expertise, problem-solving skills, and thorough knowledge of the programs and region. Regularly keep HRBP informed of trends and patterns.  Support People Survey action plans.     

Recruiting and Hiring

  • Assist with recruitments:  posting, CV review, scheduling interviews, correspondence.  Run full recruitments as assigned.
  • Serve as first point of contact with Talent Acquisition Teams and Global Mobility to manage complicated, cross-border hires. 
  • Assist the BU Operations and HR teams with preparing employment agreements and hiring paperwork as needed.  Ensure updated templates for each country are uploaded to CONNECT.

Onboarding         

  • Send Welcome letters for all new hires and ensure there is an appropriate, consistent and welcoming onboarding process applied across assigned BUs.
  • Regional onboarding:  update PPT, schedule quarterly onboarding meetings across multiple time zones, and participate in facilitation.  Prepare reports for ROI and make recommendations for improvement.

Systems and Reports

  • Serves as PeopleSoft expert and backup for all modules. 
  • Develops dashboards for performance and talent management reports.
  • Ensures that each DFO/DOO receives monthly HR data reports and milestone reports.
  • Work with HRBP on Equity report
  • Ad hoc reports as requested and approved by HRBP.

Learning and Development: In partnership with The People Team and local BU Operations:

  • Handles correspondence, vendor management, budget development and management, run events, logistics, scheduling, surveys.  
  • Facilitate webinars as assigned.
  • Project manages learning projects.
  • Coordinates 360 process.

Performance Management

  • Responsible for managing the end-to-end process.
  • Communications, training, and follow up.
  • Prepare reports for management as assigned and approved by HRBP.

Projects

  • Partner and support HRBP with Regional, Divisional and People team projects.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or 5 years HR-related work experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing and producing reports; data input, manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience responding to HR-related questions and problems from employees/management in support of a workforce in one or more countries in the Asia Pacific Region.
  • Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and HR database.
  • Experience with leading projects
  • Willing and able to travel internationally and work non-standard business hours as needed to accommodate clients in different time zones.

  • Broad understanding of fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services.
  • Ability and comfort with developing relationships with diverse people, cultures. 
  • Social media and employee communications savvy to help advance People Agenda. 
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience, specifically in Asia Pacific.
  • Advanced understanding of fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services.
  • Multilingual skills
  • Advanced technology skills: Excel, Word, dashboards, database management.
