Teach For America seeks leaders passionate about educational equity who can integrate a region’s vision to achieve One Day into the leadership development of teachers and TFA alumni. This is an opportunity for a culture leader with excellent management skills and a background in adult learning and instruction to design and execute a region’s leadership strategy, ensuring corps members and alumni are engaged in a thriving community committed to accelerating educational change in their community.
Ideal candidates possess the ability to manage teams toward ambitious goals, build and sustain relationships across all lines of difference, identify strategic partnerships to push work forward, and invest themselves and others in our core values and foundations. They have demonstrated passion and expertise in instruction and pedagogy and an ability to translate that knowledge to adult teacher leaders. They have a strong background in leadership development and education reform, and can effectively collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure our mission and vision are aligned across the leadership team.
Lead Charge to Develop Transformational Teacher Leaders
- Facilitate and finalize the teacher development team’s creation of a compelling vision for teacher leadership in your region
- Define short and long-term goals, and regularly track progress toward those goals, resetting strategy as needed
- Assess and optimize relationships with teachers and alumni, including regularly setting out to discover how we can best support them and evolving approach as necessary
- Serve as key thought leader in the region’s pursuit of ambitious Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness practice and programming, ensuring all participants are invested in this orientation
Manage Team to Execution of Charge
- Cultivate, hire, and develop a diverse and talented teacher preparation and support team well-equipped to facilitate a thriving leadership community
- Develop and implement data systems across the participant continuum – from teacher onboarding and preparation to alumnihood – to track progress and support an outcomes-focused culture
- Effectively collaborate with the team on the design of teacher, alumni and staff professional development around Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness
- Oversee the design and implementation of a leadership development arc for new educators that aligns to TFA’s adult learning aspirations and ensures outcomes for the region’s children are accelerating
Manage Communication and Relationship Building Across Key Constituent Groups
- Act as a catalytic learning partner with districts and schools to enhance innovation and quicken educational transformation in the region
- Effectively communicate and collaborate across all functional teams to ensure vision for teacher and alumni leadership is aligned to the regional vision
- Be a dynamic and involved member of the local education community, ensuring you are modeling collaboration with schools and families so the team may establish these partnerships as well
- At least 5-7 years of work experience required, with more likely required for positions on larger and more complex teams
- Experience leading and coaching teachers in a K-12 setting required
- A track record of achieving ambitious, measurable outcomes as a classroom educator and outside the classroom
- Demonstrated ability to directly or laterally manage others to strong outcomes required

Work Demands
