We’re looking for a gifted digital strategist, communicator and a creative problem-solver who’s able to leverage digital tactics and tools to build the climate movement and win impactful campaigns.  

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a deep commitment to furthering climate justice and the aims of 350.org, alongside the writing and technical skills to bring it to life in a way that inspires thousands to take online and offline action.

This role will sit within 350’s Digital Team and will report directly to a Global Digital Campaign Manager.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement and monitor digital strategy to support 350’s global goals, in close collaboration with the digital, comms, campaigns and regional teams.
  • Coordinate the creation and dissemination of digital content (websites, email, online actions, videos, social and multimedia content) for assigned projects and mobilisations.
  • Identify opportunities and lead planning and implementation of global rapid-response online campaigns around a variety of targets that meet our goals of growing and empowering the global climate movement, including supporting bottom up, user generated campaigns.
  • Contributes to the training and digital empowerment of 350’s staff in digital campaigning skills and tools.
  • Forms and maintains partnerships that expand the digital reach of 350’s global campaigns.
  • Regularly contribute with campaigns content to 350.org’s global social media channels.

Public Engagement:

  • Understand 350.org's history, campaigns, and theory of social change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy. From time to time, use this knowledge to represent 350.org's perspective in varied public venues based on geographic location and areas of expertise.
  • From time to time, contribute work towards 350.org's overall mission that is outside of standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of experience in the field of digital campaigning and movement organising
  • Strategic campaign development expertise and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible to work across cultures and timezones
  • Outstanding writing skills — we want someone who can rapidly produce content in 350.org’s voice to people all over the world
  • Experience using some (or all) of the online platforms employed by a digital campaigns team, including but not limited to Action Kit, Action Network, WordPress, and Control Shift Labs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

Big pluses: Note: Each of these is a plus, but no candidate could bring all of these. The successful candidate may only bring a handful.

  • Experience with managing large email lists and social media accounts
  • Video production / editing experience and graphic design skills
  • Existing technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, Wordpress and SQL, or demonstrated ability to pick up similar technical skills quickly
  • Proficiency in languages other than English
  • Deep expertise with Action Kit, Action Network, WordPress, and/or Control Shift
  • Experience working in the climate and clean energy movement
  • Significant experience working in, or with partners from, the Global South
  • Experience working with marginalized communities deeply affected by climate change and fossil fuels, such as indigenous communities on the front lines of fighting the extractive industry
  • Experience at the intersection of online and offline organizing, mobilization, and direct action
  • Demonstrated skill with data, analytics, and A/B testing
  • Experience working directly with developers and designers/acting in a product-manager type

  • Experience working in a multilingual context, especially with managing a multilingual digital presence.
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships and networks, preferably in the progressive/grassroots campaigning sector

Compensation/Benefits: 

Competitive compensation based on experience. Some possible salary ranges include:

  • Brazil: 121,700BRL - 152,100BRL
  • South Africa:  354,500ZAR -  443,100ZAR
  • United States: 55,600USD - 69,500USD
