350.org is looking for a trainings coordinator to ensure that people and groups in Europe have the skills they need to take action, build power, and win.
The Europe Trainings Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that people and groups engaging with 350’s work in Europe have the skills, knowledge, and competences they need to take action as part of a wider grassroots movement, build power, and win. They will work with others to identify training needs, and to develop relevant content. Trainings could cover a variety of thematic areas, such as climate justice or fossil fuel finance, and skills such as non-violent direct action or media work.
- Lead the development and coordinate the implementation of a regional trainings strategy in service of organisational goals that takes into account movement contexts and needs.
- Plan, design and facilitate trainings, meetings and workshops, online and offline.
- Identify and build partnerships with trainers, training collectives, and trainings-focused partners and allies across the region, to support climate movement building efforts and shared campaign goals
- Coach and support 350’s staff and volunteers in Europe to develop and deliver their own trainings.
- Monitor and evaluate 350’s trainings work in Europe, in a spirit of innovation and collective learning
- Liaise with and represent Europe in the 350 Global Trainings Working Group and in other organisation-wide teams and spaces
- Learn and practice training tools and frameworks on an ongoing basis.
- Plan and oversee trainings-related budget
- May include line-management of staff or contractors
- Minimum 3 years of trainings experience
- Proven experience working with grassroots groups
- Campaign and action experience in social or environmental justice
- Skilled at group facilitation, including understanding of participatory training principles, approach, and pedagogy
- Training experience in at least half of the following: Organising, Campaign Strategy, Action Planning, Digital Organising, Direct Action, Team Building, Diversity/Anti-Oppression, Training for Trainers, Media and Communications
- Experience and competency working with multicultural groups, and interested in learning about different regions and their contexts
- Experience campaigning on social or environmental justice issues
- Strong email communication skills, and comfort working remotely & independently with colleagues in multiple time-zones via skype, conference calls, spreadsheets, google docs and other online tools
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel internationally
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
- Active engagement or life experience on classicism, racism, gender issues or other areas of systemic repression
- Expertise in the climate change arena, Knowledge and passion about the global climate crisis and the politics of Climate Justice.
- Experience working with a training organisation
- Experience training in multiple countries, and with international groups
- Experience planning and executing successful grassroots pressure campaigns from start to finish
- Experience working with both NGOs and grassroots groups.
- Connection to existing networks of trainers.
- Working knowledge of European languages other than English
- Experience with the following:
- international, diverse, enthusiastic teams of staff or volunteers
- digital campaigning and offline organising
- non-violent direct action and civil disobedience
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
