Director, Executive Leadership Strategy

The ELS team works to build the talent management infrastructure needed to maximize the impact of our executive directors. To this end, the Director ELS- will partner with and support the SMD and VP, ELS in building out key talent management tools. This work is high stakes as it will impact the work of every ED and regional field executive (ED manager).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Maintain all current and future data collection systems, regularly conducting analysis and reporting out on key stats and progress to goal for senior leaders across the organization (ED retention reports, succession planning updates, etc) (10%)
    • Work cross-functionally with partners from HA and reg ops where data overlap and integration needs to occur
    • Identify data needs that aren’t currently being tracked, and develop systems to do so
    • Ensure data is secure
    • Develop other qualitative data collection systems and/or knowledge management processes for team
    • Regularly create communications to be disseminated to sub-teams, EDs, and senior leaders. Thinking about both content and format for maximum internalization.
  • ED Performance Management—Support the the VP, ELS in designing and executing on research plan, synthesizing findings, and making recommendations that play a critical role in the creation of our ED performance management system, which will be used by all EDs and their field managers. The Director will be responsible for creating all ED performance management tools and processes. (40%)
    • In design development created streamlined and even fun ways to gather insights from across the organization, in particular from regional field executives and regional executive directors.
    • Research phase could be inclusive of lit reviews, consulting with other non-profit organizations, focus groups, case studies, etc.
  • Revise ED Profile—support the VP, ELS in providing research, synthesizing findings in order to revamp ED profile. Will design and codify final ED profile for dissemination and use across org.  (40%)
  • Support SMD and VP in quantitative and qualitative analysis and summary of impact of key programmatic strategies. Including but not limited to: succession planning, ED interviewing/hiring. (10%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 7 years of work experience
  • A track record of managing multiple projects to completion and working with key stakeholders
  • A strong familiarity with data tracking, maintaining information tracking systems, and data analysis
  • Experience in learning and development for adult audiences

  • Exceptional communication skills, including designing proposals and presentations for varied audiences that people can easily engage in

Organization/Attention to Detail

  • Excellent organization and project management skills; ability to manage large volumes of work and juggle multiple projects at once
  • Pays special attention to the look and feel of final work products, double and triple checking work to ensure the final products being shared with National Council members, Executive Directors, and Regional Field Executives are meticulous, clean, and comprehensive.
