As the Director, Enterprise Applications, you will play a critical role in accelerating our progress to One Day by ensuring that the data used across the organization to select, train and support corps members and alumni is accessible, accurate, and poised to deliver critical insights by ensuring our enterprise data applications – the infrastructure we use to collect, store, and play back data to teams (e.g., Program Tracker, Placement Tracker, alumni survey) – are indispensable, thoughtful, mind-blowing, and ahead of the curve. You will influence how and when regional and national stakeholders engage with data on our most fundamental measures of success by leveraging your deep critical thinking and creative innovation skills, and your expertise in analyzing and manipulating data and data systems. This position is a unique opportunity for an individual with exceptional problem-solving, technical skills and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.  The ideal candidate will excel at building relationships and managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and have a track record of exercising strong judgment and operating independently in complex situations. The Director, Enterprise Applications will report directly to the Managing Director, Enterprise Applications.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Set a vision and strategy for one or more enterprise applications, in collaboration with stakeholders and users.
  • Lead the execution of this vision and strategy
  • Identify and document business processes and requirements for improvements/enhancements that will better serve the needs of end-users
    • lead team to collect user feedback and recommendations to develop strategies for applications
    • write technical documentation for rules and processes.
  • Creatively work with teammates, stakeholders, users, and IT to implement technical solutions that are small to medium scale (such as, automation, data integrations through public APIs, user experience reporting, etc.)
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and subject matter experts throughout the design and implementation of all improvements/enhancements
  • Drive the process of user acceptance testing
    • Shape and execute strategies for maximizing data integrity in data systems
  • Manage all necessary maintenance
  • Manage communication, training and support for these enterprise applications
  • Create and maintain training materials across multiple media platforms and craft and deliver virtual and live consultancies and trainings (one-pagers, webinars, live demonstrations, etc)
  • Manage and respond to training requests from regional and national teams
  • Shape and execute strategies for maximizing data integrity
  • Conduct user testing of other enterprise applications
  • Manage institute-related project timelines for subteam; track and report on completion of deliverable
  • May serve as primary point of contact with TPT
  • Manage data-related communications to end users (data managers, institute management teams, TPT partners, etc)
  • Design and distribute data-related training resources to Institute data managers
  • Manage fall projected placement data collection process (possibly in collaboration with others?)

  • Ability to envision, plan and project-manage multiple complex, collaborative projects simultaneously, with impeccable follow-through on execution
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, critical consciousness, and ability to work across lines of difference
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

Prior Experience

  • Teach For America staff member is strongly preferred
  • 4-6 years of experience working with data systems and applications
  • Distinctive impact/progression of increasing responsibility in previous work
  • Teach For America alumni preferred but not required

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities [2 times a quarter]
  • Occasional weekend or evening work is required
  • Working with colleagues who are based all over the country – using remote technologies
