Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusiveness (DEI) Accountability

In partnership with the Senior Managing Director, DEI Strategy you play a pivotal role in shaping how we   establish and sustain a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in our workplace through our accountability work. Working in partnership with your teammates, you will analyze our team’s strategies using a DEI lens and report on the org-wide DEI progress. This position is a unique opportunity for an individual who thrives on using and coaching others to use data to drive organizational learning, who demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills and experience in developing user-centered resources. The ideal candidate will excel at building relationships and partnering with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and have strength in data reporting for various stakeholders.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • (30%) Lead the design and execution of DEI reporting
    • Responsible for overall project management and reporting of DEI plans & reports (Staff Composition Report and Org-wide DEI plans)
    • Provide updated list of DEI plan owners and develop a process to gather quarterly and annual updates
    • Research best practices on DEI data collection and provide recommendation on identifying or revising key outcomes that are most impactful
  • (25%) Analysis of Staff DEI team strategies
    • Analyze staff DEI strategies (i.e. data from pilots, tests, surveys) to inform and improve strategy development
    • Strengthen, evaluate and interpret trends and themes from DEI reporting to inform Senior Managing Director on promising practices, areas of improvement or lack of progress
  • (25%) Develop a comprehensive internal communication strategy for our DEI efforts, specifically org-wide DEI councils
    • Plan and prepare reports for org-wide DEI councils/workgroups
    • Draft regular updates to various audiences on plan progress
    • Facilitate learning engagements for staff to understand approach to accountability and plan progress
  • (10%) Support org-wide DEI councils
  • (10%) Participate in activities or engagements to further understand our Foundations, which may include resource group participation (optional) and fulfill all selection commitment of future corps members
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required or 8+ years in related work experience. Master’s Degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Displays passion and professional and personal commitment to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusiveness

Prior Experience

  • 4-6 years of work experience
  • 3 years of experience facilitating learning engagement in live and static virtual spaces
  • Experience in conducting both quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Experience in managing complex projects/analyses from start to finish

Skills

  • Fluency with sophisticated data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI or SAS Analytics) to provide complex information in approachable, digestible bites
  • Ability to manage self to high-quality deliverables
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, responsibility, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Teach For America’s mission and core values
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, surveys, Slack and social media platforms
  • Ability to grasp, synthesize and integrate new ideas and feedback quickly to make sound decisions in a high-paced work environment
  • Exceptional operating, planning and execution skills with the ability to develop systems to track progress on projects and project manage against plan, utilizing systems to track workflow and marshalling resources strategically to achieve outcomes
  • Clear, direct, succinct, compelling, written communicator
  • Self-motivated with ability to transition smoothly from independent work to collaborative work to produce high-quality outcomes
