The Director of Collective Programming & Design will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of Teach For America’s annual School Leaders of Color Conference and additional identity-based programming owned by the broader team. This leader would work alongside the Managing Director, The Collective, Managing Director, Leadership Development, and Managing Director, Coalition-Building to ensure that learnings from the field are codified and leveraged strategically to inform programming design. They will coordinate cross-team collaboration within the Collective Leadership and Engagement functional team and additional teams across the organization (i.e. program team, regional teams, etc.) to add clarity and capacity to programmatic efforts. They will serve as operational and strategy support in driving national programming geared toward our constituencies. They will work to ensure that as we work to support a nation of leaders and their development that we are doing so in a way that ensures responsiveness to the educational climate, aligned to our Theory of Leadership & Leadership Development, and in service of our organizational strategy and Foundations.
This leader should have a strong Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) orientation and the ability to recognize the importance of leaders of color and their counterparts in ensuring equity for our students and communities. They are equipped to think about the role of all of our constituents in the broader movement and can differentiate between the unique needs of each group individually as well as collectively. You are a strategic thinker who excels at understanding the type of leadership our landscape requires and working in partnership with others to ensure our leaders are on the vanguard of excellence in education and innovation. You possess the skill to make meaning of large amounts of data and analyze that data to inform judgement. You are comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment and possess an exceptionally high level of personal responsibility.
Programming & Design (Annual Events) (80%)
- Analyze and assess field learning gathered by MDs and broader team to inform the vision and outcomes of annual centralized programming driven by our sub-team
- Design and propose core strategy for executing timely, responsive, rigorous, and cutting-edge events housed under the sub-team
- Infuse a strong DEI lens on core programming, especially with regard to identity-based programming
- Organize stakeholders (i.e. committees, councils, and additional ad-hoc bodies) composed for the purposes of supporting event design and execution
- Design learning, evaluation, and connection metrics for annual events and roll-up of event data for senior leadership review
- Design ongoing engagement opportunities for event attendees to maintain momentum and learning communities (i.e. virtual platforms, meet-ups during conference, post-event regional convening, etc.)
Team Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support (10%)
- Serve as added operational capacity for team to execute specialized events and programming (i.e. board retreats, team step-backs, TFANS, EU, etc.)
Organization & Team Responsibilities (10%)
- Participate in CLE-wide and sub-team activities, corps member interview selection process
- Attend professional development conferences and learning group experiences
- Steward organizational priorities, core values, Foundations, and breakthrough results
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Four to seven years of work experience, manager experience preferred
- Understanding of TFA corps and/or alumni community
- Experience engaging with and leading DEI work
Work Demands:
- Ability to work some weekends and evenings; ability to travel to in-person meetings
