Teach For America’s Admissions team conducts thousands of interviews with applicants around the country, working with hundreds of interviewers and interview locations.  As the Director of Planning and Operations, you enjoy managing others and guiding your team members as they execute critical pieces of the admissions process including hiring part time staff, communicating with selectors, and managing virtual and in-person interviews. You're excited to lead the First Review process and hold yourself and others to clear expectations and deadlines. When given a project, you relish the opportunity to figure out all the intricacies of how it connects across other workstreams, technology and systems.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage two associates and in conjunction with the SMD, provide support for the overall management of the Admissions Operations team (30%)
  • Identify and test promising opportunities and drive special initiatives within operations that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations processes; oversee technical and operational process changes (20%)
  • Create, manage and execute vision and detailed project plan that guides execution and design work for the initial file review process including designing a complex sign-up and assignment process and ensuring the process is completed on time (20%)
  • Build relationships with key Recruitment team members, Human Assets partners and other constituents related to First Review staff hiring and process execution (10%)
  • Create systems for and analyze data related to Admissions operations and serve as the operations data and technology expert (10%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least five to seven years of work experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Prior management experience preferred

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel quarterly to in-person meetings in various U.S. Cities
  • Some weekend and evening work required
