350.org is looking for a passionate and engaging communicator to work with the Digital Engagement team for a period of 6 months. 

We are looking for an excellent communicator that has experience managing staff, writing and editing key digital content pieces and can manage editorial and social media content calendars. This position is covering some core functions within our Digital Engagement team during a staff sabbatical period. We want someone who is able to come in and get up to speed quickly, is passionate about climate justice and the environmental movement and really understands what kind of content engages online audiences. We’re looking for someone who is able to finetune small details and nuance whilst also keeping an eye on the big picture and narrative.  This is a central and dynamic position, you’ll be working closely with the translation team, multimedia team, programme team and many regional teams at 350.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in remote teams, highly responsive, and able to lead key initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and excellent communicator with a proactive mindset.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Write and edit digital communications material to ensure the coherence, consistency and alignment of 350’s voice and key messages in the content produced across all digital platforms 
  • Schedule, plan and maintain oversight of content being produced and distributed through our digital channels (including websites, blogs, social media, multimedia, email blasts) 
  • Work closely with global digital campaigners to coordinate editorial and social media content and stay up-to-date with key outputs from regional teams 
  • Manage up to three staff members on the digital engagement team
  • Manage and maintain the social media calendar and Falcon Social platform
  • Support staff to develop new social media content that communicates our stories, objectives, and messages from around the world
  • Use a data-informed approach that incorporates testing, analysis and reflection to drive towards a steady increase in online reach, traffic and new audiences; use our social media channels to test new formats,messages and tactics.
  • Work alongside the Support Services and Engagement Manager to ensure proper engagement on our channels. 
  • Coordinate work with Digital Growth Manager and Multimedia Manager
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passionate about digital and social media work that engages the public
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Excellent writing, proofing, editing, graphic and multimedia skills 
  • Experience working across multiple social media channels, managing a social media and editorial calendar and engaging new & existing audiences
  • Working knowledge of current global climate movement and issues with a strong interest in climate justice. 
  • Experience of working with geographically dispersed teams collaboratively to achieve shared goals
  • Strong organisational skills, ensuring multiple areas of work are successfully delivered on time and on budget
  • Prior management experience
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, project planning and management skills
  • Excellent written and oral English
  • Flexible 

Desired (but not required) skills and experience

  • Proficiency in content production and collaboration tools like: Wipster, Animoto, Airtable, Falcon, Adobe Creative, Chatfuel, Wordpress, ActionKit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Proficiency in languages other than English
  • Experience working remotely with an international and multilingual team
  • Experience with social media data analysis and reporting
  • Professional experience and competency working in an international environment and in multicultural groups
  • Experience working and living in multiple countries
  • Able to travel internationally on occasion
