350.org is looking for an part-time Online Trainer until end-October 2019, to support the 350 network - and a whole bunch of new people - to join the growing youth-led Climate Strikes movement around the world, to have the biggest impact possible.
Flexible - Remote. Preference for Africa-Europe or Asia timezones.
The Climate Strikes Online Trainer will help the 350 Digital team to deliver a mass online training program to 350.org supporters, associated activists, and newly-mobilised people, who will be participating in the September 20th Climate Strikes.
You will provide those participants with the inspiration, motivation, strategy and skills they need to take action and mobilise others at scale. Every week until the mobilisation, you will deliver a set of online, interactive, webinar-based trainings for people from around the world to join. The general curriculum for the webinar program will be largely established before you join, but you will be responsible for adjusting the program, and iteratively improving upon it as you gain experience delivering it.
You’ll be responsible for following up with participants in the program, and building community between them. You will also support the replication of the program by other hosts, to cover diverse geographies and languages.
- At least 1 year of active participation in climate or social justice movements.
- High level spoken & written English skills
- Proficient using email & social media
- Experience hosting webinars/online trainings
- Experience in: community organising, campaign strategy, volunteer mobilisation or coaching
- Willingness to work flexibly in a global team and across cultural/language barriers.
- A demonstrated understanding of the role that racial, gender-based and other forms of inequity and discrimination plays in our society and in movement-building, and have demonstrated an ability to effectively engage across difference.
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
- Having fluency not only in English, but also French, Spanish or another major language.
- Experience working in, or with partners from, the Global South
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with supporters
- Experience working in a virtual office environment
