The National Community Alliances team is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, self-starter who is interested in educational equity and has a passion for Teach For America’s mission.  You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and team setting.  You possess good judgment, are a master of time management and consistently look for ways to do things more efficiently and effectively.  Finally, you have a sense of humor combined with a spirit of flexibility and a sense of possibility. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Communications Support <20%>

  • Share initiative opportunities with a large network of Teach For America staff members, alumni, and corps members by updating wiki resources, social media groups, and initiative newsletters consistently.  Opportunities that could be shared across our internal networks include events, partner resources, initiative updates, and job postings.
  • Support creation of alliances newsletters and other tools
  • Manage systems to ensure strong communication with TFA Marketing and Communications team
  • Create and manage multiple systems that allow us to share wins and opportunities across the organization. Examples could include: developing and implementing a newsletter, designing a suite of resources and sharing with regions and national teams, coordinating with institute teams to distribute resources, etc.
  • Provide social media engagement support across multiple platforms 

DACA Support <20%> - Provide general oversight of all DACA work, including recruitment, corps member admissions & financial aid, corps member support, regional engagement, and alumni work.

  • Work with Managing Director, DACA to execute on the vision for our DACA initiative
  • Administer the TFA education awards to support DACA corps members and alumni
  • Support all DACA-related development efforts and events
  • Manage & track overall DACA budget
  • Manage DACA Advisory Board communications 

Portfolio and Team Support <20%> - Develop and manage a strong internal communication process within the National Community Alliances team

  • Structure/coordinate regular collaboration between VP, National Community Alliances and Engagement and other members of TFA’s leadership teams across the organization; to ensure that the work, MOUs, and opportunities for engagement are maximized across the organization (e.g., relationships with organizations like Congressional Black Caucus interns/fellows is maximized by the recruitment team, etc.)
  • Support creation of alliances newsletters and other tools to share alliances work across the public partnerships spectrum 

Administrative Support <40%> - Submit finance reports for some members of the National Community Alliances team, complete travel booking for events, register for conferences, and other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Support the VP, National Community Alliances to manage team operations and strategy including team calls, asks/offers, TFACT reporting, team project management, budget management, goal setting and strategic planning. 
  • Prepare the VP, National Community Alliances for meetings, speeches and appearances.
  • Planning and logistics leadership on biannual team stepbacks and LatinX Alliances events
  • Provide project management in support of the Native, LGBTQ+ and Vice President workstreams
  • Oversee budget and expenses of LGBTQ+, LatinX, and Native Alliances workstreams
Educational Background: 
Associate or Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-3 years of work experience or significant internship or leadership experience.
  • Previous Teach For America staff experience or experience at a mission-driven education organization preferred

Work Demands:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Some travel required, approximately once per quarter

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan and execute projects;
  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs; Canvas a plus
