The UN Foundation (UNF) has been commissioned to lead a mapping exercise on the roles, responsibilities and remit of UN organisations in relation to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across the UN system. This assignment is commissioned by Sub-Group 5 of the Inter-Agency Coordination Group (IACG) on AMR with a view to strengthening implementation of their IACG’s AMR Framework for Action released in August 2017. The mapping exercise will be conducted between January and May 2018, and will comprise both desktop research and direct engagement with counterparts from across the UN system. The assignment will result in a consolidated report to be completed by end of March 2017 and submitted to the IACG in early April.
UNF is looking to hire a Research Consultant to support UNF staff in completing this assignment. The duties of the Research Consultant will be as follows:
- Help to build a contact data base and survey instrument (questionnaire) to gather information on the UN organisations to be surveyed
- Support available desk top research drawing from online sources related to the UN and its work on AMR
- Assist with organization and documenting of personal and telephonic interviews with UN entities from across the world
- Support the chief author of the report to consolidate the data into a high-quality report
Undertake any necessary edits as requested.
This assignment will be carried out in a collaborative manner, will be led by UNF staff and will also comprise a team of academic experts serving as additional resource persons and researchers.
- Two-five years of relevant working experience
- Proven research experience including in global development issues. Familiarity with AMR issues will be an advantage.
- Strong, proven writing skills
- An ability to work within teams, with fixed deadlines and in a highly collaborative environment
