Administrative Director, Development

Under the direction of the Managing Director of Development, the Administrative Director will direct and manage the administrative functioning of a large and growing national Development team, including but not limited to matters relating to human resources, budgeting, contracts and procurement, staff training, and internal communications. This is a new position that will help to streamline related internal processes to ensure that the Development office is operating as effectively and efficiently as possible. The Administrative Director will work closely with colleagues in HR, Finance, Accounting, and Communications, among other areas. In addition, the Administrative Director will work with external vendors and partners as needed and in relation to contracts, procurement, and budgeting issues.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Streamline and manage the annual expense budgeting process for Development.
  • Develop internal development policies related to procurement and travel as an augment to existing institutional policies.
  • Shephard contracts with Development vendors through the internal process at NRDC and liaise with vendors as needed.
  • Serve as primary point person for HR and outside search partners as we substantially as expand NRDC’s development team.
  • Work with HR and external partners to put in place a tiered program for employee training and development.
  • Create and manage new methods of internal development communications to improve overall functioning of Development team.
  • Organize and manage regular development team meetings and periodic retreats.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of business contracts and negotiations.
  • Vendor management skills.
  • Budget management skills.
