The Accountant position is responsible for the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions to the official records of the organization. The Accountant will perform analysis and reconciliations to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), 350.org Accounting/Purchasing Policies and Procedures; and industry best practices. This position will exercise independent judgement and discretion.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Perform analyses and reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts including
    • bank reconciliations
    • Capital purchases and depreciation
    • Due to/from C3-C4
    • Accounts Payable
  • Prepare manual and adjusting journal entries
  • Assist Director of Finance in performing Treasury/banking functions including:
    • processing wire transfers
    • ACH batch creation and submission
    • FX Currency Exchange reconciliations and adjustments
  • Support the annual financial audit
  • Use technology (financial accounting software, expense reporting systems etc.) to upload and update financial records ensuring balancing and accuracy of data
  • Respond to staff and vendor inquiries regarding payments, coding and the general ledger.
  • Support General Accounting Manager or Accounts Payable Manager as assigned.
  • Support Finance Department on related upgrades, accounting changes; and enhancement and usage of all financial systems and information.
  • Other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Skills/Experience: 
  • Accounting: Have a comprehensive understanding of
    • GAAP
    • Best accounting practices
    • industry accounting standards

Required Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in Accounting.
  • Proficient in automated financial accounting systems, Microsoft office Suite including EXCEL and WORD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in not-for-profit
  • Previous Accounts Payable processing
  • Exposure to or experience in global accounting
  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Slack and Zoom.

Work Environment: Mostly working remotely. May be asked occasionally to work in an office.

Travel: Occasional (domestic and international)
