The Armed Services YMCA is seeking a dynamic and motivated professional for the Executive Director position at our branch in 29 Palms.  The Executive Director will work closely with the local Board of Management to enhance the mission, vision, strategic plan, and goals of the Branch.  The Executive Director will lead the program and fundraising initiatives of the Branch.  The Executive Director will develop, mentor and lead staff to meet Branch goals. The Executive Director is also responsible for the fiscal management of the Branch.

This position reports to President & CEO of the Armed Services YMCA on all branch operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Establish and elevate existing fundraising efforts through campaigning, events, endowments, corporate giving and grants.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate programs and services based on the needs of the military and their families.
  • Represent the programs and mission of the organization to agencies, military and government officials, organizations, and     the general public.
  • Work to maintain sound fiscal/HR practices under the supervision of the Headquarters and the local Board of Management.
  • Effectively recruit, manage, and motivate employees and volunteers
  • Must be able to work non-regular hours (nights, weekends), as necessary
  • Local travel daily (e.g., local businesses, meetings, branch locations) and overnight business travel required - up to 20%
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 7+ years of experience of successful operational and management experience at an executive level, including strong fiscal    management skills
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing , managing and executing multiple programs
  • Must have the ability to cultivate strong, productive, and professional relationships with the local Board of Management and    Branch program partners
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of military culture
  • Highly proficient with Internet and software (e.g., Microsoft Office) usage
  • Fundraising experience
  • Non-profit experience preferred
