The Health and Wellness Program Director at the Fullerton Family YMCA who oversees the development and operations of one YMCA branch department. Supervises designated department in the areas of: fiscal responsibility, health and safety, staff development and supervision, program quality, operational effectiveness, volunteer and community development, and fundraising. Provides leadership to the department, branch and association in the areas of: collaboration, mission advancement, communication, decision making, and project management.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for the sales and implementation of the personal training program.
  • Collaborates with Membership on the orientation of new members.
  • Provides for the routine education of members on healthy living principals.
  • Manages fee based youth and adult fitness programs.
  • Schedules, creates and evaluates the quality of group exercise schedules.
  • Purchases equipment and supplies as authorized.
  • Works with the facilities department on the cleanliness of fitness areas and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists in meeting membership retention goals.
  • Designs and implements innovative programs based upon trends and best practices.
Educational Background: 
4-year college degree in related field or 6 years experience may off-set the degree requirement. First Aid and CPR certifications required.
Skills/Experience: 

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: In accordance with applicable policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

  • Must be 21 years of age. 3+ years of related experience and supervision required (in addition to the education off-set). Additional years of experience may offset some of the educational requirement. Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer and results orientation.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to be an effective member of project teams.
Compensation/Benefits: 

The YMCA of Orange County offers excellent benefits as part of our compensation package. Programs such as medical and dental insurance options are available for full-time staff. Program discounts, retirement, and complimentary use of YMCA facilities are offered to all employees.

Salary: $49,920.00 - $64,000.00
