The YMCA of Orange County has an immediate need for an Aquatics Director. The aquatics director reports to Executive Director and is responsible for the operation of the aquatics program. Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model in to all program activities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Monitor daily pool operations, adhere to state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.
  • Conduct and ensure proper maintenance of pools.
  • Establish new program activities and expand program within the community.
  • Conduct quality checks, prepare and ensure attainment of program objectives, secure pools for swim lessons and other programs.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff.
  • Ensure proper care and use of assets, ensure pool is maintained and records are accurate.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Promote and market programs and special events, conduct facility membership tours, ensure satisfaction surveys are completed, compile program statistics.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and other community organizations, participate in civic, business, and school-related activities.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assist with branch fund raising activities, special events, Program Committee meetings.
Educational Background: 
4 year college degree; Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and YMCA or Red Cross Advanced Swim Instructor certifications required.
Skills/Experience: 

The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • 4 years of experience working within an aquatics program; excellent communication skills; survival skills and ability to perform rescues;
  • 2 years of supervisory experience required.
Compensation/Benefits:

Salary: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00
