The YMCA of Greater Tulsa Senior Sports Director will administer all functions related to the Sports Department with a direct focus on recruitment & retention of participants, program development, staff development, safety, customer service, communication, and fun for all participants and families.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Sports programming & supervision

  • Hire, train, and provide orientation for all sports staff including payroll, teaching techniques, guarding techniques, and emergency procedures
  • Schedule all staff hours keeping in mind budgetary goals
  •  Recruit, retain & train volunteers & staff for all seasons following the YMCA of Greater Tulsa volunteer process.
  • Approve time worked for all staff in areas of responsibility
  • Offer up-to-date annual evaluations and expectations for all staff
  • Provide department program information in a timely manner to the Front Desk.
  • Do Sports league Evaluations per YMCA of Greater Tulsa Data Calendar.
  • Research, process, and approve all refund/credit requests for the department.
  • Develop all fliers, handouts, news releases, brochure copy, help-wanted ads, etc. necessary to promote the Sports program alongside VP of Member Experience.
  • Responsible for the leadership and development of youth sports, adult sports, and sports camps
  • Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with the Association strategic plan
  • Lead Y.E.S. program as the face of the program to schools, partners, and participants.
  • Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  • Secure and schedule athletic fields and facilities as needed
  • Organize and conduct parent organization meetings
  • Organize and conduct coaches trainings and meetings
  • Create teams from paid and financially assisted registrations
  • Develop and distribute team practice and game schedules
  • Develop and distribute sports rules, guidelines and handbooks if applicable
  • Coordinating purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards
  • Coordinate and distribute team photographs
  • Organize season parties and events
  • Transport and set up equipment for games and practices
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
  • Provide organized program data and compile  program statistics
  • Effectively utilize and follow association guidelines for program entry and reporting
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in Youth Sports Programming or Youth Development, managing multiple locations, managing multiple staff
  • Proven ability to grow a programs in participants as well as finance
  • Volunteer or Staff supervision experience
  • Knowledge of sports programming, marketing, and program implementation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS)
  • Knowledge of budgeting & expense control.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and O2 Certification
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $44,000.00
