The Manager, Talent & Operations will lead the Greater Tulsa region’s finance and compliance work. You will oversee our financial goals and expenses, create systems and processes for our team to manage expenses, and ensure we are using our resources strategically to maximize our impact. In addition, you will be the regional expert and oversee our work on risk, compliance, policies, and guidelines, and you will lead the creation and management of our regional internal systems and knowledge management. The ideal candidate for this position has superior organization and project management skills, has a passion for finance, compliance, & systems, and excels in reasoning & strategic thinking. You will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. The Manager, Talent & Operations will report directly to the Director, Talent & Operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Finance (50%)

  • Oversee progress toward financial goals and budget compliance for the Greater Tulsa region
  • Create and manage systems that lead to effective budget management and help functional leaders and the ED make smart, timely financial decisions that use our resources strategically
  • Ensure region is complaint with Teach For America’s financial policies. This includes, but is not limited to, processing purchase orders, check requests, reimbursements, approving corporate cards, and training staff on financial policies and practices
  • Maximize financial resources by working with national partners and staff members to track grant spending
  • Lead the non-payroll process for annual budget planning
  • Effectively communicate with and train staff members regarding our budget  

Risk & Compliance (10%)

  • Lead, design, and implement systems, structures, guidance, and training that build, promote, and assess our region’s risk and compliance work
  • Lead and project manage any internal or external audits
  • Liaise with Teach For America’s national teams and internalize Teach For America policies and practices to ensure our region is in alignment and executing in a way that minimizes risk and maximizes compliance

Policies & Guidelines (10%)

  • Lead communication and internalization of our national policies and regional guidelines and practices
  • Audit and ensure regional staff guidelines, practices, and systems promote staff effectiveness, equity, inclusiveness, safety, and fiscal responsibility
  • Liaise with with Teach For America’s national teams around policies and practices to ensure our region is in alignment and executing effectively

Internal Systems & Knowledge Management (10%)

  • Set direction, goals, and strategy for TFA Greater Tulsa’s internal systems and knowledge management, including Workday, Salesforce, Box, Google Drive, and calendars
  • Maintain internal systems & knowledge management, and laterally manage others, where appropriate, to maximize the team’s effectiveness and impact
  • Provide resources, training, and support to staff on internal systems and knowledge management 

Region-Wide Events (10%)

  • Plan & execute region-wide events, including  TFA Greater Tulsa’s annual winter celebration

Collective Responsibilities (10%)

  • Drives discrete projects to support the Greater Tulsa region in reaching ambitious goals
  • Participate as a member of the regional internal operations team
  • Participate in all staff regional commitments (e.g., selection, matriculation, all corps events, team meetings)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years of work experience preferred
  • Finance or budget management experience is highly preferred
  • Operations or project management experience is preferred
  • Proven ability, via work history, to build and execute a project plan and organize, prioritize, track and manage workflow from multiple streams
  • Superior finance and budget management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Rare talent to acquire and internalize knowledge quickly and translate to regional context & needs
  • Ability to manage systems and processes to ensure efficient operations and 100% follow through across multiple workstreams
  • Independent self-starter; enjoys starting projects and can successfully self-manage to see the project through to completion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with TFA stakeholders, including staff, board members, CMs/alumni, external partners and donors
  • Ability to understand and synthesize multiple perspectives and tailor approach
  • Demonstrated optimistic approach and flexibility; approaches work with a spirit of “yes”; pushes work forward through obstacles; adapts quickly as things change
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Work Demands:

  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities [1-2 times/year]
  • Ability to travel independently to multiple locations for work throughout Tulsa & Muskogee and store/bring items to those locations
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds for work purposes
  • Occasional weekend or evening work is required
