The Manager, Data & Learning will lead the Greater Tulsa region’s work to learn from and implement solutions grounded in data. You will assess our current systems for measuring impact, design and implement improved systems, and support our team to engage in strategic learning cycles rooted in data. Through collaboration with others, you will collect and analyze data, build systems and processes to use data for effective and timely regional decision-making, support our team to build a data-driven learning orientation, and leverage data to tell our story of impact. This position provides a unique opportunity for individuals with a passion for analyzing data and communicating it’s story, a strength in collaborating with others, and an ability to translate data into actionable learning and solutions to play a key role in driving the effectiveness of the region. The Manager, Data & Learning will report directly to the MD, Chief of Staff.
Data Collection, Analysis, & Accountability (35%)
- Assess TFA Greater Tulsa’s current systems for measuring impact; design and implement improved systems
- Pull data sets from internal and external data sources, cut and analyze data to assess our landscape and support effective and timely regional decision-making across functions (alumni and staff recruitment, retention, and development, student achievement, etc.)
- Build data systems and/or leverage internal data systems to enhance our ability to assess and tell the story of our impact over time
- Support the Teacher Leadership Development Team to create meaningful student achievement outcomes that support learning both internally and across Tulsa’s educational community (i.e., that talk to other data systems and measures our community cares about)
- Support the Alumni Leadership Team to design, administer, and analyze a region-specific alumni survey that assesses our current impact and sets us up to accelerate our future impact
- Ensure our region is meeting Teach For America’s national standards in data collection, analysis, and reporting (i.e., Data Continuum Freedoms and Mutual Responsibilities)
Data Communication & Learning (35%)
- Support teams to identify learning questions and engage in short and longer-term learning cycles, grounded in data
- Support team leads to build a data-focused learning orientation among our teams
- Make strategic recommendations to functional leads and the leadership team based on data analysis and community partnerships
- Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences that communicate information in an easily-digestible format
Partnerships & Collaboration (20%)
- Partner with organizations (e.g., non-profits, schools and districts, Oklahoma State Department of Education, Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce, etc.) and Teach For America’s internal teams to collect, assess, and analyze data
- Support other regional teams (Development and Comms, Teacher Leadership Development, Talent & Operations, Alumni Leadership, etc.) to collect and make meaning of qualitative data, particularly in tandem with quantitative data
Collective Responsibilities (10%)
- Drive discrete projects to support the Greater Tulsa region in reaching ambitious goals
- Participate as a member of the regional internal operations team
- Participate in all staff regional commitments (e.g., selection, matriculation, all corps events, team meetings)
- At least 3 years of work experience preferred
- Data analysis or management experience is highly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PPT is highly preferred
- Presentation and group facilitation skills or experience is preferred
- Familiarity with statistical analysis platforms is preferred
- Superior data analysis and visualization skills; skilled in using logic and data to perform analysis
- Ability to translate data into actionable learning & solutions
- Exceptionally skilled in identifying an area of opportunity from a complex situation
- Superior strategic and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage systems and processes to ensure 100% follow through across multiple workstreams
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with TFA stakeholders, including staff, board members, CMs/alumni, external partners and donors
- Demonstrated optimistic approach and flexibility; approaches work with a spirit of “yes”; pushes work forward through obstacles; adapts quickly as things change
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
Work Demands:
- Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities [1-2 times/year].
- Ability to travel independently to multiple locations for work throughout Tulsa & Muskogee and store/bring items to those locations.
- Occasional weekend or evening work is required.
